Funders Concerned About AIDS (FCAA) is a philanthropy-serving organization (PSO) founded in 1987 to take bold actions and push philanthropy to respond to HIV and AIDS. Our mission is to inform, connect, and support philanthropy to mobilize resources to end the global HIV pandemic and build the social, political, and economic commitments necessary to attain health, human rights, and justice for all.

FCAA members are philanthropic organizations that make annual financial contributions to support FCAA’s work. They represent a diverse range of funding institutions that collectively are responsible for roughly 50% of global HIV-related philanthropy per year.

Membership is available to grantmaking or philanthropy-serving organizations, as well as philanthropic consultancy, support, advisory, or hosting organizations. FCAA also encourages membership from established and emerging intermediary funding organizations.

Unrestricted membership contributions help FCAA to advocate for the sustainability of the HIV response by supporting our comprehensive programming, research, and communications efforts.

As a connected and coordinated community of funders, we can be a stronger voice for a comprehensive investment for the people and places most impacted by HIV and AIDS. Collectively, we better understand where the money is going, how it is changing, and where the need may be the greatest. By sharing information and advocating for a stronger, collective response, we can better influence our own individual institutions, donor governments, and the philanthropic field.

It is crucial to continue building and investing in donor networks across these sectors and to develop a coordinated response for people and communities that continue to be marginalized by government and society and that are disproportionately impacted by HIV — including Black women, gay and bisexual men, transgender women, sex workers, and people who use drugs in the U.S. and global South.

Membership provides the following benefits, and more, to all staff at member organizations:

Learn more about these benefits in the FCAA membership guide.

Dues are voluntary contributions based on an organization’s overall annual grantmaking. Some members choose to make all or a portion of their dues in the form of a grant. The guidelines include “base membership” and “sustaining Board support” for FCAA Board organizations. To encourage the participation and engagement of intermediary organizations, FCAA offers a discount for organizations that identify as intermediary funders. If you would prefer a document to share and review this information internally, please download this new member letter.

FCAA Sustainers are member organizations that contribute in addition to their annual base membership level to help sustain FCAA operations or support programmatic areas. This can be in the form of increased membership dues, sponsorship, or a general operating grant. Project grants may also be considered to cover membership fees when aligned with FCAA’s mission and strategy. Examples of sponsorship and recognition opportunities include:
