The HIV epidemic’s dynamics are continually evolving, necessitating new approaches and strategies that can only be developed by a diverse pool of leaders who bring various perspectives and experiences to the table. Emerging leaders in the field must be equipped with the necessary connections, tools, and support to drive forward impactful HIV-related initiatives.

The current philanthropic landscape, however, lacks sufficient representation, visibility, and formal leadership of grantmakers from communities most impacted by HIV. This gap means funders often lack the internal champions needed to prioritize HIV-related grantmaking and, as a result, limits the sector’s ability to effectively address the evolving needs of the people and places most affected by HIV.

By focusing on emerging and mid-career grantmakers from communities impacted by HIV, this project aims to cultivate a diverse and dynamic pool of champions who can drive forward innovative solutions and sustain philanthropic efforts – both within their institutions and the field at large. The 2025 FCAA Global Philanthropy Summit will serve as a catalyst for these emerging leaders, bringing them together and working to provide them with the skills, networks, and support needed to make a significant impact.
